Know what I noticed about Maki? Her first name is an anagram of “Mika,” and her last name has “Haruka.” And those are both of Numbuh 6.13’s top characters.

Chapter 10: Kill the Gifted Juveniles

“They have a barrier around the hangar entrance.” Maki noticed. “Should we breach in from a different entrance?”

“Negatory!” Miu declared. “My Puncture Needle can break a cheap defense like that!”

Said device extracted from the bow of her ship… and let’s just say it was rather inappropriate-looking. Regardless, it was effective in penetrating the hangar barrier, ramming down several small 4x4 ships upon landing. A platoon of Moonbase Guards lined up to let fire, but they hadn’t expected a swarm of bugs to buzz out of the ship. Bees stung their vulnerable mouth areas and ants stacked up into fists to punch them. “Beautiful, Gonta!” Angie cheered, hugging the green-haired brute. “Atua will make sure to bless each of your bugs!”

“Gonta is grateful to Atua’s kindness.” Gonta blushed.

“Let’s charge on through!” Tenko dashed forth. “Hold on, Himiko!” Her little witch friend rode her back.

“Tenko, she’s only weighing you down.” Maki said.

“I need to reserve mana by not using my legs.” Himiko reasoned.

“That’s right! Himiko can’t give her all if she’s too busy running!”

Sector SA, Cheren and Panini, and other ops trained their eyes as the horde of intruders breached the bridge. “HYAH, HYAH, HYAH!” Tenko’s quick aikido techniques downed numerous guards. “Out of my way, degenerates! We’re on a-”

Morgiana kicked across the air with frightening speed, her leg flying at Tenko. But the Fanalis’s ankle was grabbed by Gonta, and in her attempt to swing the other leg, he grabbed it. “Ghhh!” She had to prop her hands on the floor to stay stable, struggling to shake free. “What are you?!”

“Gonta is gentleman. No like violence.”

“For a gentleman, he’s sure got a hefty Power Level!” Goombella said, using Tattle. “But Morg’s still higher! Come on, you can shake-”

“Nyahaha!” The vanilla-haired artist, Angie danced and painted a fanciful design along Morg’s legs. Gonta released her and, questioning herself, the Fanalis began to do a strange dance. “Your strength means naught to the will of Atua!” Angie performed the same dance. “Show him your respect and talent!”

Cheren drew his Hero’s Bow and tried to snipe Angie, but the projectile was grabbed by Maki. “That’s the leader.” Akame whispered. “Distract him. I’ll search his office.” While the widow jumped off, her apprentice Shaved over and swung a Tempest Kick, but pulled back at the sight of Cheren’s Mirror Shield. Panini punched fire at her, but only burned an afterimage as Maki Shaved behind and dealt chi-blocks to Panini’s back. She kicked backward, but released a weak fire, whereas Maki zipped behind Cheren. He readily slashed back, but she ducked and kicked his stomach. “AGH!” Maki was shot in the face by a paintball, allowing Panini to score a punch to the face.

“Cheren!” Shino yelled, proud of her successful hit. “I know her from Aincrad! I think she’s a CP0 agent!”

Maki hurriedly shook the paint off and glared at her. “You again!” She dodged Cheren’s stab and kicked the sword out of his hand. She Shaved behind, but he bent the Mirror Shield behind and blocked her kick.

“WHOA!” A tennis ball flew with deadly speed, bending in Shino’s stomach as she flew off. Goombella faced the culprit with a gasp: Ryoma, a short, black-clothed boy with wide pupils. He clicked a button on his racket to make the ball return to him. Ryoma sent it at Goombella, but the Goomba leapt, and was magnetically drawn to Index’s mitt via her shoes. Index chucked her at Ryoma, headbutting him backward. “AAAH!” Index was then bound in thin wires, courtesy of Kirumi. The maid spun and hurdled the nun before advancing.

“HOOOO, YEAH!” Miu stormed in riding a large mech called an Exisal. “This is too easy! Kaede, kick on those tunes!”

After Angie soaked more operatives in paint, Kaede twirled around, strumming a small piano strapped to her waist. This caused them to break into a greater dance.

“Bang, bang, bang!” Miu’s Exisal blasted operatives with thick, whipped cream. “Yeah, you WISH you could bang this! …Wait a…” Two peculiar imps caught her eyes. She lowered her goggles and scanned Diancie and Boly. “Unusual readings? …Looks like Firstborn if I ever saw ’em!”

“BOLY, RUN!” The duo hurriedly bounced down a hallway, the Exisal storming.

“I shall assist!” Kirumi cut down a different hall. Memorizing the base’s blueprints, she was able to cut off the duo’s route. Miu quickly turned the corner, leaping as the mech flattened both Firstborn.

“HAHA! Not even five minutes into this invasion and I already scored two targets! Get ready to go smoosh!”

“Magnemite, use Thunderbolt!” (“Magnemite!”)

“AAAAAHHH!” A jolt of electricity fired Miu, her Exisal stumbling backward. Diancie and Boly escaped, but panicked as Kirumi swung a bladed yo-yo. “HUH!” Ciel Phantomhive swiftly kicked the weapon off course.

“Raleigh!” Boly escaped as the blonde prince rushed to Ciel’s side.

“Magearna—I mean, Boly, go with Carol and hide! We’ll handle these two!”

Kirumi maneuvered her arms to block Ciel’s attacks, the maid glaring as the Firstborn hurried around them. Kirumi tripped Ciel with her wires and tried to chase, but was blocked by a Game-and-Wall downloaded by Carol. “Let’s go!” She took their hands and ran. “Of all the days we didn’t bring the whole team. I thought I saw Kokichi here earlier… where did he…”

From the highest floor, Aisa and Apis stared down at the chaos taking place. “There’s a paint user like April.” Apis determined. “And a musicbender helping amp the effects.”

“I think April’s still at GKND. We should probably call…?” The Shandian about-faced.

“What’s wrong, Aisa?”

A little spider had skittered under the door to the leader’s office. Aisa and Apis ran toward the door. “I thought I felt a presence go in here, but I didn’t see anyone. Hmm…”

“You seem like fine young ladies~”

The girls turned. “!!” Standing over them was an eerie, creepy man with a masked face and military uniform.

“Yes… a tribal warrior and a priestess…oh, you’ll make fine friends for Sister. Very fine friends indeed…” Korekiyo slowly raised a thorned whip.

“EEEEEK!” The friends jumped apart from its lash. Aisa pulled out her Conache Pumpkin, attached to a rope as she swung it at Kiyo’s stomach, knocking him back with a flip. Kiyo twirled the whip around himself and lashed at Aisa at erratic angles, the Shandian evading with Observation. She quick-drew her bow and shot him in the hip. Apis pulled a S.P.I.C.E.R. and tried to burn the whip, but Kiyo whipped it right out of hand. His next whip came for her, but Aisa jumped to catch the whip around her arm, getting cut.

K1-B0 soared into the base to catch up with Tenko’s group, blasting rays to electrify and stun guards. “There’s the portal, Himiko!” Tenko said as she took down the operatives guarding an inactive round device.

“But it not look like portal.” Gonta said. “How we make work?”

“Himiko can do it!” She set her friend down. “You know any spells?”

“I do know one…” The witch cleared her throat, closed her eyes, and waved her arms. “Abaluka, abaluka, wah, wah, wah, wah…”

The portal opened. “IT WORKED! You’re the best!”

“Hup!” Lee Andrew jumped through the portal—“AH!” and headbutted Himiko, both falling on their backs.

“AAAAAH! She summoned a degenerate male from the… Degenerrealm! Himiko, you know that’s forbidden magic!”

The other RZ ops crossed through. “I think Crest really likes who the heck are they?” Diwata’s sentence gradually changed topics.

“NYAHAHA!” Angie didn’t hesitate in painting them, and Kaede strummed her piano for the added hypnosis. “Praise be to Atua! Praise be!”

“Atua be that praise!!” Diwata cheered, the friends dancing. “What the heck am I be?!”

“Ow, my head…” Himiko sat up. “What happened?”

“You took down that shifty operative all by yourself!” Tenko beamed. “Way to use your head!”

“Even in my sleep, my magic is a deadly force…”

“Ryoma, Himiko, stay out here and guard the portal.” Kaede ordered. “K1-B0, we’ll need you on the front lines. There’s probably plenty more dangerous foes in there.”

“Acknowledged!” The robot zoomed in first with the others following.

On the bridge, Maki’s legs were like swords against Cheren’s. He threw the Mirror Shield, but she dodged as her pigtail stretched to grab the handle, redirecting it against Cheren. “WAH!” With him down, Maki then grabbed his ankles in her pigtails, hoisting him upside-down. Cheren was used as a weapon to attack Panini, who struggled to hold on and pull him away. “Hmm…” Maki was alert as darkness surrounded her… along with a circle of Killuas. Cheren was able to shake himself down, and with him and Panini assaulting her, she couldn’t focus on her classmate’s Rhythm Echo. Eventually, the Killuas closed in: her opponents ducked, and Maki swung a 360 Tempest Kick.

Killua readily dodged it as his extended nails scratched her shirt and waist. “Damn traitor!” Maki lunged at him, but Cheren shot his Hookshot at her back to haul himself over and land a blow.

“Aww, mad that your underclassman got you?”

“Underclassman is right.” Goombella analyzed. “Killua’s Level measures up to 5,400, while Maki is a whopping 8,000!”

“Will someone help me?!” Morg danced. “I hate praising Atua!”

“Doesn’t surprise me.” Killua lashed his yo-yos at Maki, who blocked with karate chops. “She’s the toughest apprentice among us.”

“I haven’t seen Kalluto in a while. Where is he?”

“Off being a dork, who knows?” Killua performed a flip-kick down on Maki’s head, and she then suffered a spin attack from Cheren. When she recovered, there was no trace of Killua.

Index saw him retreat to the hangar. Once by his lonesome, Killua withdrew Maki’s cellphone, which he had swiped after his Rhythm Echo. With it, he dialed Nagisa’s phone number. Nagisa hadn’t been answering him lately, probably because Killua had been captured. He wondered if he would pick up this strange number. “…Who is this?”

Killua sported a smile. “Nagisa… it’s me.”

“Killua?”

“CP0 is attacking the Moonbase. They’re hurting everyone. They already wounded Morgiana… and they’re trying to kill Index.”

“W…what. They didn’t… they never… told me…”

“Where are you? What’re you even doing?”

“S-something… important.”

“Nagisa, your friends are going to die! You may be brainwashed, but you need to snap out of it! What’s more important? The Newborn’s deaths or your friends’ lives?”

“Er…I…”

“Ah! Crap, they found me!” Killua lied. “Nagisa, do you have a ship or something?”

“Yeah, they… lent me a small craft.”

“You have to hurry! Whoa! I don’t know how long we can hold out! Huh? Hey, Morgiana wants to say something!” Killua changed his voice to mimic Morg’s, “Nagisa, we need you! I need you! Please! No matter what you choose, I’ll support you! I love you! Just please come help us!”

“M-Morg…”

“AAAH!” And Killua ended the call. “Hah…hook, line, and sinker. Huh?” Four large mechs flew into the hangar. They were Exisals like Miu’s, controlled autonomously as they charged in. “Oh, give me a break.”

Nagisa had just been about to infiltrate the soda factory. Crouching behind the dumpster, thoughts began to swarm through him. He saw himself and Morg, confessing their love in Fanali. He saw himself infiltrating the Dark Ore Mine with Goombella in his backpack. He felt Index take a bite out of him. He, Killua, and Deku wrestling in bed. His friends… they were… “Have to… kill the Newborn… for them… but if they die… there was no point… no!”

Quahog

Two lifelong foes faced off atop Generic Anime Peak: the hot and cold winds danced around Zach Murphy and Deadpool. “I see you’ve grown your body back, Mr. Wilson.”

“Oh, I didn’t just grow it back: I grew it OUT. Muscle Expansion Jutsu!” He ripped off his suit, his body inflating to a golden, muscular form.

“An impressive bod… but see how I’ve regrown mine.” Zach ripped off his clothes, exposing himself as a bottle of sunscreen. “It’s always been my dream to be full of cream.”

“Holy smoke! If he shoots me with that, I’ll be whiter than buttered ghosts!”

“I challenge you to a duel, Wade!” Zach’s bottle cap opened as a Barbie doll sword popped out.

“Cream this, cream boy!” A luchador sword emerged from the back of Wade’s underpants.

The blades clashed, unleashing a shockwave of Clown’s Haki that turned the world into a bowl of Baked M&M Soup.

On a less epic scale, Maddy was punching Chi Spheres at Lucci, the lion dodging and sending Tempest Tail Whips. Maddy felt him Shave behind and threw a punch, but he dodged right and bit into her head. The Spider Bite sent pain through her veins, but Maddy imbued her head with Haki to reduce the pain. She then grabbed Lucci’s neck and channeled White Haki into it. She squeezed the neck, choking and forcing him to back off.

The Kubota Family were huddled in their house, observing the chaos outside in fear. It made Lexi wish she stayed at training a bit longer. BAM BAM! The banging noise startled them. “GUYS! You in there?!”

“Miko?!” Hugh hurried to the front door. They were beyond thankful to find their violet-haired gamer, her teammates behind her.

“SIS!” Lexi jumped her for a hug.

“Good thing they didn’t total this street, yet.” Quill said. “Let’s get you out of here! We can squeeze you on the ship if you get in-”

A series of watery limbs stretched and slashed the Q-Ship’s engine. “What’s that thing?!” Carmine panicked at the liquid lizard that crawled around the ship.

“You kiddies can’t leave right when the party’s getting fun!” the Chaos Agent sneered. Carmine threw grenades, which the creature easily swept aside. Quill drew his Elementors and shot ice blasts, the agent evading.

“This is the creature Kodama called me about! You have to aim for its head!”

“Got ya!” Jenny Strongarm zoomed up on roller-blades and swung a kick at its brain, but its head turned a watery black, using Haki to defend. The beast punched up and sent Jenny flying, but dodged when Quill assaulted with plasma shots.

“I got bigger fish to drown! See ya!” The monster retreated into the sewer.

“Should we chase it?” Miko asked.

“It could have an advantage down there.” Eddy reasoned. “Let’s just protect-”

Maddy violently blasted back-first through a ruined home, her stomach indented with claw points. She pushed herself up as Lucci pounced over the home, the lion evading her ranged punch. “Growl…” Lucci smirked over at Sector Q. “You know, I’m starting to remember you lot. You were involved in that shabby attempt to stop us. But you’re shy a member, it seems…”

“Worry about me first! …Wait!” Maddy sensed a movement under the street, moving up the sewer lid. A gush of water burst out, and while Maddy dodged the arm that stretched out, the Chaos Agent Shaved directly on top. Maddy punched up, splashing the water, but was quickly enveloped in the liquid. Gurgling, traumatic memories resurfaced in Maddy’s mind, unable to focus her Haki as she struggled to escape.

“What’s wrong, little Maddy?” asked the creature. “Afraid of a little glass of water?!”

“?!?” This voice triggered a surge of familiarity.

Eddy was able to snipe the agent’s brain with his slingshot, but she managed to retain her shape. Lucci charged the sector, Quill shooting plasma at him, followed by Jenny kicking his head, but the lion whirled and slashed them away with claws. Miko slammed her K.O. Hammer at his back, but was grabbed by the neck and pinned down. “Violet hair… you must be the MCP Maki described!” Miko desperately punched him with her gauntlet, mixed with digi-lasers, while her teammates assaulted him with their own techniques, but Lucci’s will was stubborn. “All we want is the Newborn and we’ll leave! Or do I just need to end you and it’ll-”

A shotgun from a different source struck his head. Lucci glared up at the wielder, Hugh Kubota. “Uh…well, it worked in the nature documentary!”

Lucci got up, threw Miko into Jenny, and slashed Tempest Claws at the others, who ducked. “Fine! You first!” The lion pounced, his claws aimed for Hugh’s heart.

PRICK!

Kalluto jumped in the way and used Iron Body, but the claws punctured part of his stomach. “KALLUTO!” Lexi screamed.

“I won’t… let you hurt Lexi’s family!” The boy bent over a fallen, burning tree branch, Lucci throwing him away and dodging.

“Come on, let’s go!” Mayumi ushered, nudging the kids around the house.

“So, you’re betraying us?!” Lucci slashed Kalluto, who evading with Paper Art. Carmine assaulted him with grenades, leaving Kalluto to Shave away and bend bandages over his wounds.

“Who are you?!” Miko asked, shooting bullets.

“I’m Kalluto! I’m…I’m Lexi’s friend!”

“You’re the assassin?” Miko took a ranged Pistol to her waist, but stretched her hammer to dent Lucci’s nose. “Where’d you come from?”

“Kind of complicated…” After he saw Sector Q running to leave, Kalluto Shaved after them and snuck onto their ship. Once they arrived, Kalluto hid to observe the situation… but that was when his shrinkage finally wore off. He couldn’t have asked for a better time.

“Well, you’re already fine in my book! Let’s put this lion down!”

“But what about…” Eddy looked over, but the water creature already got away with Maddy.

“I’ve been waiting four years for this, Maddy!” The monster uncovered only her mouth, allowing her to breathe. “And it’s almost the anniversary of Enies Lobby!”

“You…you’re…”

“Hey, Maddy.” Chris approached her one day. “Did you hear about Nya?”

“Nya LaMar?”

“She disappeared. The triplets told me Aunt Cree’s been asking about her. She up and ran away from home.”

“Oh…” Maddy was never on good terms with Nya. She was quite literally an enemy to the KND and one of Maddy’s worst. So, hearing this news only made her worry. But as the years passed, up until the New Galaxia mission, they never found Nya. Though it left the Gilligans with heavy hearts, they eventually had to stop searching.

Nya had broken into Eldwin’s old office and found his personal copy of the Rokushiki arts. She stayed there and trained herself in seclusion, but whenever people came to investigate Enies Lobby, Nya would make her way further up the mountain’s interior and hide.

“What are you doing here…”

Eventually, Lucci discovered her. “Heh…so, you DO still come back here.” Nya smirked.

“Don’t tell me you still harbor attachment to them?”

“And you don’t? I betrayed the KND for them! I thought the World Leaders would save us! But they didn’t! In the end, they were just… wrong! I served them for nothing! And you feel the same, don’t you? Getting humiliated by that twerp… now we’re in the same boat.”

“I’m not here to wallow in self-pity. This mountain just makes a nice hideaway. I will carry on Andrew’s will. I will destroy the gods that he detested. What is it that you want?”

“I don’t even know. I’m just… pissed! Pissed at those brats… and those special little Chosen Ones! They got to have it all in the end! They got to be the ones who were right! Hey… if you’re going to destroy the gods… that means the Firstborn, too, right?”

“Perhaps.”

“Let me come with you! Please!”

“Heh.” Lucci turned. “You’re still not strong enough for that. But train a little more… and maybe we’ll contact you. I may even have a prize for you.”

“Prize?”

“That Shade girl who helped Maddy… she was an Echidna. They were a proud tribe on Mobius who lived under a guardian spirit. Out of vengeance for Shade, I commissioned Dr. Clown to capture that spirit, using whatever sources necessary. And he made a Devil Fruit from it. If you get good enough… maybe we’ll give it to you.”

“The Chaos-Chaos Fruit.” Nya confirmed. “A spirit that harnesses the Chaos Emeralds. It’s made of water, too, so it was the perfect creature to destroy you!” She covered Maddy’s mouth again, molding her watery body to stir her around in a futile effort to “swim” or escape. “How sad that the greatest Haki Master still can’t handle a large portion of liquid. I’ll drown you and ALL the oh-so-important Firstborn!”

“Iron METEOR!” Francis Drilovsky fell right atop Nya’s brain, his hardened fist as the impact point. The forced splashed Nya’s body apart, though the emeralds took the form of colored lights that levitated. Francis pulled Maddy away from the reforming liquid.

“Huff…huff…so, you decided to follow me, huh?”

“I missed fighting beside my righthand girl.” Francis smiled. “Besides, it’s nostalgic fighting Nya again.”

“I might trade places with Sector Q. They can help fight her while I take Lucci.”

“I don’t think you’ll need to. Aurora called and said she’s sending help.”

Lucci pounced at Carmine, but couldn’t catch his prey before he was restrained in place. A shadow wrapped him, originating from Dillon York. “You know, all these fires you set are really making my shadow dance! You’re up, Sheila!”

“HEYUH!” A streak of light ending at a fist socked Lucci in the face, the lion keeling sideways. Sheila Frantic cracked her knuckles with a wry smirk. “’ey, if it ain’t me mum’s old work mate!”

“Growwwwl! The infamous Pirate King! I’ve been dying to meet you!”

“Sector Q, help evacuate Miko’s family and any other citizens!” Dillon ordered.

“Understood!” Quill saluted.

“I think Lucci needs a break from you, Maddy.” Francis said. “Let’s give Nya a chance to play.”

“Wouldn’t have it any other way!”

The snake lady watched the battle from a safe distance. “That’s the Sssssunny Fist. But sssstill no sign of the Firstborn. Maybe once they’re all worn out, I’ll jump in and ssssave the day.”

GKND

“Um, Sister?”

“Yes, Jerome?”

“How is it we wound up in this mess?”

“Your guess is as good as mine.”

The Winkiebottom siblings had warped downstairs to attempt to mitigate the intruder situation. Before they knew it, they were chi-blocked by an aikido-crazy girl, had their monochrome features colored by a laughing painter, and were made to dance by the songs of a piano. “Nyahahaha! This base is Atua’s now! We will remodel it into a luxurious shrine, with jacuzzies, and salad bars!”

“I’ll head for the prison wing!” K1-B0 said. “The rest of you comb the base and search for other ‘targets.’ Make sure you contain them in Kiyo’s Black Boxes.”

“Hey, I don’t take orders from no male!” Tenko shouted.

“Technically, I am neither.”

“WHOA, PARADOX!” The fighter short-circuited.

Kaede and Angie branched off together, seeing a horde of operatives in a hallway. “This calls for my special Atua Fountain!” Angie whipped out a four-barreled minigun, squirting paint over all of them. They were colored in abstract fashions and were made to dance. “Nyaha! Atua is thankful for so many-”

“Sorry, but this color doesn’t suit me!” April Goldenweek painted herself back to her natural fashion.

“OOOOUUU!” Sugar bellowed a Song Beam, to which Kaede strummed up a Music Sheet Shield to protect them.

“Uh-oh! Looks like we found our matches, Angie.” Kaede said. “Wait… you’re Don Quixote Sugar! The pop sensation!”

“Huh? Why, of course!” Sugar smiled. “Are you a fan?”

“I…I was. But…” Kaede shook. “Why are you smiling like that?! Weren’t you Meloetta’s Guardian?! And she was killed right in front of you!”

Sugar gasped. That question alone confused her. Were these intruders affiliated with CP0? “Why are you attacking us?”

“We came here to save our friend. But we…we heard other things, too. That you KND… used the Firstborn for your own ends!”

“We needed them to win important battles… but they were our friends! I loved every minute of singing with Meloetta! That’s why I…” Sugar thought it best to maintain the lie, “I can’t believe that she’s gone! I can’t believe that group is trying to kill them!”

“I see…” Kaede felt truth in her words. Under normal circumstances, she would call off the fight and try to reason with her… but a flame sparked in hers and Angie’s eyes. “Even so… we can’t back down now!”

“The will of Atua empowers us! He commands us to win!”

“April, do you see their eyes?” Sugar asked.

“Yeah, it’s weird. Sugar, let’s capture them and see what’s up!”

Upstairs, Kazuma had rushed out of the gym room after hearing the intruder alert. “I wonder if it’s those assassins? I should probably head back-”

“KYA!” The cadet saw Pigbert come crashing around the corner. “Lose some weight, fatty!” Tenko scolded. “Maybe THEN you can take my Neo Aikido! Eh?” She noticed Kazuma.

The tan-skinned fighter balled his fists, his knuckles clad with metal braces. “Well, either he was the bad guy or you. Are you an operative?”

“What a dumb question.” Tenko cracked a smug look. “Of course he was the bad guy. He was as dumb as males come.”

“Uh…’kay. I’m gonna punch you, anyway.” Kazuma punched, but Tenko grabbed his arm, pulled, and flipped him on his back. Kazuma did a spin-kick, but Tenko flipped and kicked him in the side. Kazuma hopped up and dodged her chops, landing a punch to her stomach, but she grabbed and pinned him on his front.

“Wearing knuckle braces is such a degenerate male thing! Too dumb and lazy to work hard or learn how to fight. It’s a wonder Kaito got captured by you brats. I mean, if he was up against a girl, it makes total sense. Know any good girls, kid? You oughta send one of them my way if you hope to-”

Kazuma bent his hands and feet to prop against the floor. “RABBIT LAUNCH!” He forced himself into a hop, flinging Tenko to bump her head on the ceiling. Kazuma landed and hopped again to kick her into the wall. Tenko landed, maneuvering her hands to block his swifter punches, but as soon as his knuckles met her jaw, the girl was shock-ridden. “You sound like a girl who has no respect for her opponents. I got no reason to hold back on you. Let’s see if your Neo Aikido can match my Shorinji Kempo!”

Gonta’s swarms of bugs overpowered the Wisp guards. However, for just about each one, Gonta asked it, “Excuse Gonta, but are you a Firstborn?”

“NO! Get these things off me!”

“Then perhaps you are a Firstborn?”

“If I was, I wouldn’t be working in THIS joint!”

“This harder than Gonta thought.” The brute looked down and scratched his head. “Gonta heard Firstborn are small, baby spirits, but perhaps should have asked for exact description. Oh?” But on the floor, a large horde of very small creatures caught his gaze.

“Rupert, is that one of the intruders?” Mujika asked. “He’s gigantic!”

“Yeah, but look at all those bugs! He reminds me of the guy I fought at the Cooking Fest. …Uh-oh! I think he sees us!”

“Are those Pikmin?!” Gonta came charging over, the floor quaking in succession. The giant got down on his hands as his gargantuan, spectacled eyes observed the army. “Wow! Gonta never thought find Pikmin in place like this! So many colors! But who is…WHUH?! What bug is that?!”

“Bug?” Mujika questioned. “You couldn’t mean—HEY!” The Gupna was snatched by a pair of small tweezers.

“Gonta never see bug like this! Gonta must add to collection!” He pulled out a Bugvac and slurped Mujika inside, trapping her in the glass prison.

‘No! Let me outta here! Rupert, help!’ The glass muted her voice.

“Synthia, can you minimize him?” Rupert asked. “He doesn’t seem hostile.”

“Yeah!” The spirit flew to touch Gonta’s nose. The giant was zapped down to Minish size, his Bugvac bouncing on the floor.

“Whoa! What happened to Gonta?!”

“It’s rude to put people in jars, you know!” Synthia scolded.

“A firefly?” Gonta fixed his glasses. “No… Gonta have 20/0.625 vision, but no can see you very well.”

An antenna beetle crawled up to him and made a noise. “What? You say small light give off strong spiritual chi? You think it might be… Firstborn?!” An aura flared up around Gonta, his once gentle demeanor taking a serious turn.

“Synthia, get away from-!”

Gonta snapped her inside the Black Box that had minimized with him. “Quick! Take back to base!” A group of flies took the box and buzzed away.

“GUYS, STOP THEM!” Wing Pikmin flew after them, but were blocked by a flock of Scornets.

“Sorry, Pikmin, but Gonta no can let you stop mission!” Gonta leapt into the shell of a giant snail with spikes along the shell’s side. The snail curled up and rolled, the Pikmin splitting apart. Rupert threw Silver Pikmin to climb around and break the spikes, with Brown ones to attack the snail’s sticky body. With swarms of Gonta’s companions surrounding them, he reserved some Pikmin to attack them. Rupert saw a few Dirigibugs amongst Gonta’s swarm, green bugs that flew with balloons and produced Bomb Rocks. If he could seize those rocks, he could break Mujika out of her prison!

The prison wing was secured with a strong door, but K1-B0 could sense it weakening with each blast. “This one should do it!” He charged more energy into his cannon and fired.

“AIYOOP!” An extendable leg stretched and KICKED his cannon, shooting the wall beside the door. “Whaddo ya think you’re doing, buddy?!” asked Bender, a plain-looking gray robot with flexible limbs. “I helped pay for that door! Costed me two whole bolts!”

“Your limbs have remarkable elasticity.” K1-B0 analyzed. “But you look like a cheap model.”

“CHEAP?! I was only sold for 40% off! I ain’t about to let some fancy jet talk down on me!” Bender stretched his arm, but K1-B0 dodged. The latter tried to shoot, but Bender’s arm curved and retracted, punching the back of K1-B0’s head as he keeled forward. His cannon shot the floor beside Bender, who was knocked away by the force. Bender spun with a leg stretched, wrapping K1-B0 in it. However, the white-haired robot took flight, pulling a screaming Bender with him and flailing him against the stairs’ railing. “Ow! Ow! You spin me right ’round, baby, right—ROW!”

Moonbase

“Ow…” Lee Andrew woke up after a while. “Uh…what are you guys doing?”

“We’re praising Atua!” Diwata cheered, the RZ friends locked in dance.

“Atua demands a lot of praise!” Denny shouted.

“Did April do something to you guys?”

“Stop right there!” Lee gasped, seeing the red-haired witch. “You may have survived my Headbutt Spell, but that was just the tip of my magical iceberg. Prepare to be dazzled by the Magician Extraordinaire.” Himiko withdrew a wand and made slow motions.

“So, you did this?”

“Well, my friends did, but they borrowed my magic. And now, I’m going to stop you, with my Runny Nose Spell! Abraca…” Lee braced himself as she waved her wand. “CHOO!” She sneezed on him.

“EW!!!” Lee frantically wiped it off. “That wasn’t magic, that was disgusting!”

“And now you must wash yourself in the bathroom! My spell has robbed a portion of your time.”

“HYUH!” Lee stretched his leg’s shadow to kick her in the stomach, the mage rolling backwards and hacking spit.

“Plueh! My Anti-Vomit Charm works wonders, I see. Ow! You’re more clever than I thought. I’ll have to analyze your brain, by turning myself into an earworm. Metamorphimiko, Metamorphimiko…” Lee watched as she seemed to shrink into herself… but really just lied flat on the floor. She bent up and stretched herself to crawl like a worm. “Bweh…bweh…bweh…” She reached Lee’s boots and tried to “slide” up him. Lee simply pushed her away.

“UUH!” A small ball rammed him in the stomach and forced him into the wall.

“Ah!” gasped Megumi, the cadet blushing. Her Iron Paddleball returned. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to-” She dodged Ryoma’s tennis ball.

“Don’t take your eyes off me.” Ryoma stared. “I once killed a mafia group with this ball.”

“That may be, but I once took out a Reaper!” Megumi rapidly hit her paddle with rapid bullet speed. Ryoma’s shortness made him nimble, but the impacts left bruises.

“Fooled you!” Himiko pointed. “I actually casted a Magnet Charm to make the ball hit you. And it’s not over, yet! Taste my metal fury!” Himiko pulled out some coins, nail clippers, and some pencils, throwing them at an aggravated Lee.

Carol Masterson made it to the hangar with Diancie and Boly. They boarded her ship to return to the planet. “It didn’t sound like Poshley Heights was under attack, so maybe we’ll hide you there for now.”

“W-We can’t…” Diancie moaned. “Brother… is in danger…”

“Sector V is on their way to assist him. We can’t let the assassins get you!”

“Agh!” Her eyes brimmed a shade of purple. “Don’t… take… BROTHER!”

“Unusual anomaly detected!” Boly exclaimed.

“HEY!” The ship began to steer out of Carol’s control. “Diancie, are you metalbending the ship?! Stop it! AAAAH! Huh?!” In the midst of wrestling with it, Carol saw a dark ship fly by. A sky-haired boy was in the cockpit. “Is that Nagisa?! What’s he—ugh, Boly, do something!”

“I’m trying!” Boly tried to hold the Earth Firstborn down, but Diancie’s hold remained firm.

When the four Auto-Exisals breached the bridge, it didn’t make the operatives’ lives any easier. Morgiana, who was washed of her paint, fought an Exisal programmed for kickboxing. Cheren clashed against one with its own katana, Panini fought one shooting soundwaves from a guitar, and Shino used a pair of small 4x4 laser pistols to shoot a gun-wielding Exisal.

“You must not be very confident if you need those cheap-ass things to fight for you!” Killua extended his nails with Life Return, thrusting Finger Pistols at Maki, but she countered with her own along with her pigtails.

“You’ve wasted enough of my time. I’ve got an idiot to save.” Maki threw him off with an afterimage and raced away.

“Oh, that’s right. Kaito was captured. But is he here? I thought he was-”

“GUYS, LOOK!” Goombella screamed. “THERE’S NAGISA!”

Killua about-faced, beaming, and the revelation momentarily distracted the others. “Robots?” That was the first thing Nagisa’s droll mind recognized. “These aren’t CP0. Why would they even use robots?”

“NAGISA!” He lit with alertness as Index came charging in a rage. “You little punk, how DARE you avoid us and make us worry!”

Nagisa Shaved backward and tried to jump back in his ship, but Index had conjured and thrown a light-made trident, stabbing the seat and forcing him to back out. Index jumped on the ship herself and fired a charged Light Beam inside to destroy the controls. With that, she shot a look at Nagisa, with a twinkling gaze and a hanging mouth that he’d seen many times before. He knew his best option was to run, maneuvering around the parked, wrecked ships, but no matter which direction he took, Index was there to cut him off, a predator in the dim hangar. Nagisa dashed for the exit, only to realize a cage made of light bars blocked him. “Do you see the light, Nagisa?!” Index blocked his way back through the doorway.

Morgiana destroyed her Exisal with a forceful kick. Shino uncovered a weak spot underneath hers, ran down, and shot up into it, short-circuiting the mech. Cheren diced his into parts and Panini set hers ablaze in emerald flames. “Your friends are having a good time and YOU’RE GONNA JOIN THEM!” Index fired three beams to keep Nagisa from maneuvering away. Index leapt through the straight path and sank her teeth sharp into his head.

“GYAAAAAHHH!”

Sephiroth pressed the four Earth Children underneath a gravity field, but Anthony willed some distant rubble to fly up and strike his wing. Tom burst a lava spout up to burn the Nimbi, and once the gravity weakened, Shelly grabbed his legs in black sand made from the street. “Damn, this guy’s thick!” Shelly struggled to crush them. Sephiroth broke free and swooped down to stab her, but Emily bent Sephiroth’s sword back into his face. Anthony caught his arms and legs in rock traps while Tom pounded his head with magma. “AIYAAAAAAA!” Harvey Harper bellowed an Emotion Beam, blasting Sephiroth through several ruined houses.

“Nice one, Harvey!” Anthony praised.

“Shut up! It’s way too late to celebrate!”

“I was just saying…”

“Anthony, where is my daughter?!” Luvbi asked.

“Fybi’s resting on Moonbase! She killed one of the assassins, but she’s exhausted.”

“Fybi did what?!” Harvey shouted. “Is THAT why he’s attacking us?!”

“They’re trying to kill the gods! Including Michelle! They might come for Mesprit, too!”

“Mesprit’s not even here! You might as well have left them have Michelle!”

“DOTH NOT SAY SUCH!” Luvbi scolded. “I dread the misery Fybi wilt feel when she learns of this.” She looked to her husband’s body in remorse.

Sephiroth launched back and slashed a Tempest from his blade, but a stone wall was risen to block it. Angelie McKenzie emerged as a stone colossus, attempting to crush Sephiroth, but after slicing the hands apart, he willed the colossus to collapse into itself. “See, this is the problem with out-of-towners!” Chad Dickson leapt and slammed his Haki fist to Sephiroth’s head, afterwards grabbing and attempting to twist it. “By the way, I’m asking for a friend, but are you mortal or a spirit?”

“Do some research.” Sephiroth kicked him off and stabbed Chad’s stomach and through the back. Angie’s body reformed from the rubble, grabbed Sephiroth in a stone hand, and slammed him to the ground. Tom melted that area of ground and Emily molded metal over Sephiroth, completely submerging him. For a moment, they were certain that was the end of the angel… until he burst right back out, rising to the air. His coat had been burned off, exposing his well-toned body. “Mmm…mmm…” However, his face looked flushed, mouth twitching. “Hothothot, owowow, hothothot!” He frantically brushed his tongue. “Water! Water-water-water.” Sephiroth flew to a water spout from a broken fire hydrant and doused his mouth. “Agh! Reminds me of some curry I ate once.”

“. . . . . .” The group didn’t know the best reaction to give for this. “So, we literally submerged him in lava… and all he got was a case of mouth burn.” Tom pointed out.

“Everyone has a limit!” Angie said. “Just keep attacking and he’ll go down!”

Sephiroth rose skyward and raised an arm. More meteors descended to the planet. Angie became a colossus and stretched her arms to grab the further ones, while the Earth Children divided to suspend as many as they could. “Just how many asteroids does Earth have, anyway?!” Tom asked.

“About 26,000!” Emily panicked. “Maybe we should call Moonbase and ask them to clear them up!”

Sephiroth cocked a brow as some asteroids were gunned down by a C.O.O.L.-B.U.S.. “Hmph…more flies?”

“Just so you know, I feel severely under-equipped for this!” Artie Gilligan shouted. He and Harry managed the bus’s guns while Haylee piloted. “Do we really not need Sheila and Dillon?!”

“They’ll come as soon as they’re done with the Quahog situation!” Aurora shouted. “There’s plenty of strong fighters here already, so we’ll win in a pinch!” The leader leapt off the bus and took flight with Rocket Boost. Seeing the Uno, Sephiroth launched at her. The second his blade swung, Aurora’s Galaxia Sword flashed out of a burst of lightning, blocking the katana before she thrusted it into his face.

Sephiroth backed off with a grunt, Aurora’s swings matching his in speed. Convenient. The Nimbi thought. Looks like we won’t need Nagisa after all. Doesn’t matter. We just needed to keep him away from the Newborn.

When Sephiroth stabbed at her left hip, she froze that side and froze the sword to it, yanking it away. Using such a long blade looked complicated, so she kicked it away afterwards. Sephiroth used gravity to quickly force her downward, but Shelly rose up a Sand Hand to catch Aurora. A strong Rocket Boost sent Aurora up against the gravity, landing a stab against Sephiroth, with fire to add extra damage.

Sephiroth glid backwards. “These kids are getting a bit annoying. I might need to bust out my true form…”

Moonbase

The black widow leapt off the railing from the office’s floor, descending calmly with a web. “I can’t believe I actually found it. Now we’re just one step closer. …Is that Nagisa?”

“Sigh…sigh…” Nagisa went into a state of shock after he was free from the clench of Index’s teeth. The nun in question spat out the dark needle lodged into his head. It’s been a habit of hers since the day they met… it was always her way of disciplining Nagisa whenever he had done something wrong. But it made him so happy to feel it… and he was so happy to see their five faces… hanging over him with such sympathy. “Nagisa…” Morg whispered.

“Morgie…!” His arms embraced her as soon as he remembered he could move. “I’m sorry! I…I kidnapped Gourmerry, and I hurt Tsu, and I…I was so upset! I just wanted to get rid of them… just get rid of them so we didn’t have to worry, anymore. Am I…am I horrible?”

“You’re not.” Morgiana hugged him, pecking him with a kiss. “It’s not like I don’t understand. It really has been frustrating. If destroying them really was the best option… maybe I would. But I also believe they can help us. And they will. And no matter what happens, we’ll get through it together.”

“Yeah, dude!” Goombella jumped. “And like, I know you were brainwashed, but would you rather hang out with those emo freaks over us?”

“I’m forced to hang out with them at least once a week, so you got bad tastes, dude.” Killua remarked.

“If you wanna vent some anger out, just play a videogame.” Shino smiled.

“So, no more running away!” Index scolded. “And pull needles out of your head! Or I’ll bite you into pieces next time! Understand?!”

“Ha ha ha ha! Alright! It’s a promise!”

“Hah…glad that little issue’s been resolved.” Cheren smiled. “Hey, I’m gonna go after that Maki girl. Check in with the others, Pani-…?!” He looked in Sector SA’s direction. He sensed the presence of a spider heading right for Index. “! INDEX! WATCH OUT, THERE’S A-!”

It wasn’t part of Akame’s original mission, but there was no better chance to take. And when she was just close enough, Akame grew back to normal. The operatives didn’t have a second to process her before her poisonous blade stretched straight to Index’s chest.

A pair of ring-like eyes shot awake as their owner screamed, “SCHEHERAZADE!”

The Juveniles really giving the KND a run for their money, though I suppose the suddenness and unknown knowledge of their abilities was the main advantage too.

Well, it seems that a bit of deception would actually be warranted if it'll get Nagisa to fly up there and out of CP0's grimy hands. But the prank call potential has also become exceptionally real! XD

Good on Kalluto for doing his best in defending Lexi's family, especially given that he was about to snuff out Miko only a short while ago. This'll make any future marriage proposals a lot easier for him! XDDD

Now we've got proper confirmation of Nya being that special CP0 agent, now we'll have to see if Cree will pull a Henrietta or will she be proud of what her daughter has become.

Whelp, it feels like Marshadow is gonna be the only Newborn who might evade capture since CP0 has no idea where he is even with Nagisa's snippet of knowledge.

Hmm, so it seems that even the Firstborn that haven't been killed might also go haywire. Though one could argue that maybe Diancie did die in that volcano only to be revived quickly. :T In any case they better be wary of any other Firstborn who might also succumb to the Darkness.

Dang, Harvey. He didn't even say Diancie but rather Michelle, which makes it way worse since he's basically ousting his friend (granted they weren't close, but surely they'd have spent a long time together than the other Firstborn espceiclaly from a childhood perspective).

Interesting question by Chad, I suppose this'll factor in to his ghostie wife's side of things? XP Speaking of death, did Chad just die or get knocked out of the fight? XD

Great to hear that Nagisa has returned to his old self, and he's definitely gonna be itching for some payback given how much damage he's caused the KND. Unfortunately it seems that the Infinity Trident might've gotten snagged by Akame, hopefully Cheren had the foresight to replace it with a replica or something.

Strange that Akame would try killing Index when CP0 have established that killing the Guardians might set the Newborn loose, especially one of the most dangerous Newborn. Moreover it seems that Hoopa's gonna be taking the stage, probably fuelled by vicious vengeance for whatever is gonna happen to Index.

BTW, you forgot to bolden GKND.
